The Open Network (TON) Foundation has announced an update that enables encrypted messaging in TON wallet transactions. Previously, users could add text comments to transactions, but those comments were visible to everyone. With the new feature, users can encrypt these messages, ensuring that only the sender and the recipient can access them.
The cost of sending an encrypted message is approximately 0.006 TON (less than $0.01), which is affordable for everyday use.
The list of wallet applications supporting this update can be found in the official announcement from the TON Foundation. Soon, all mobile wallets will incorporate this feature.
However, there are a couple of limitations to keep in mind. Firstly, the recipient must have a wallet with at least one outgoing transaction. Secondly, users should avoid sending encrypted comments when depositing on an exchange or payment services.
