On September 27, the payment platform FCF Pay announced a partnership with Honda, a Japanese car manufacturer. This collaboration will allow Honda to accept cryptocurrency payments for its products and services.
How to pay with crypto for Honda cars
Through the cooperation between FCF Pay and Honda, customers can now make payments using not only fundamental assets such as BTC, ETH, XRP, BNB, but also stablecoins like USDT and USDC, and even meme coins like DOGE, SHIB, PEPE, and FLOKI. The full list of supported assets can be found here.
Initially, this offering is available to US citizens, with plans to expand to other countries in the future.
According to FCF Pay, customers can expect a fee of $3 + 2% in cryptocurrency when making payments. In addition to buying directly, crypto can also be used to pay for leasing and renting Honda cars or motorcycles.
When Tesla will accept crypto payments again
The concept of buying cars for cryptocurrency is not a novelty. In March 2021, Tesla allowed customers to purchase their products using Bitcoin. However, the option was later removed. Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, said that the company would return payments in BTC when at least 50% of Bitcoin mining relied on clean energy sources.
Recent reports indicate that over 50% of Bitcoin mining energy is clean, so there is a chance that Musk will bring this option back soon.
Unlike Honda, Tesla previously did not rely on other services and used to accept direct crypto payments.
